Yabagi Sani, the presidential candidate of the Action Democratic Party (ADP), has stated that, in contrast to other candidates who are regional or ethnic candidates, he will take a national approach.
Sani, who is also the Chairman of the Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC), claimed that Bola Tinubu, Atiku Abubakar, of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), and Peter Obi, of the Labour Party (LP), are all ethnic candidates.
According to Akahi News, he said this during a Saturday interview with Punch.
Sani stated, in response to a question regarding the potential impact of religion and zoning on the presidential election in 2023 and its outcome, that capacity, competence, and qualification should be used to select leaders more heavily.
He argued that religion and zoning have not improved leadership in the nation.
He stated, “If as a nation we are able to distance ourselves from these dichotomies that have nothing to do with leadership, the problem of this country can easily be solved.”
“What does a person’s capacity, competence, or qualification as a leader have to do with religion, ethnicity, or zoning?
“We are where we are today because we can never move forward if we confine ourselves to this attitude. It denies us the opportunity to appoint competent, knowledgeable, and high-quality administrators for this nation. My candidacy stands out from those of others because of this.
If you take a closer look, today’s Nigeria is divided along ethnic lines.Peter Obi belongs to the Igbo, Bola Tinubu to the Yoruba;Additionally, Rabiu Kwankwaso and Atiku Abubakar are Hausa/Fulani.
“We cannot have a stable government going forward because it is a competition between these three major tribes. If any of them wins, the other two ethnic groups will feel they have lost.We are where we are today because of this.Igbo men will be agitated if a Yoruba man wins, and vice versa.
I Am Most Qualified Sani argued that if elected president, he would unify the nation and continue to be the most qualified candidate.
He stated, “I am from the North-Central and I have the experience, purpose, qualification, and knowledge.” He added, “I think for us to unite this country, the candidature in other zones should be given a trial and not to be sentimental such as judging the types of clothes the candidate is putting on, his faith, belief, etc.” “I am from the North-Central and I have the experience, purpose, qualification, and knowledge.”
