Recently, a former police officer was taken into custody on suspicion of possessing stolen goods and being connected to victims of the July Krugersdorp gang rape.

When a group of suspected illegal miners robbed and raped eight women who were at the mine dump to record a music video, the accused was a member of the film crew.
Dolphina Truter, a former Krugersdorp police station officer, made an appearance in the Krugersdorp magistrate’s court on Tuesday and was given a warning before being released.

The 28th of October will see her return to court.
According to Gen. Elias Mawela, the commissioner of the Gauteng police, additional arrests in the Krugersdorp rape case cannot be ruled out.
“The suspect has been out of the police force for three or four years. She has been accused of stealing and having stolen items in her possession.”We cannot rule out the possibility of additional arrests,” Mawela stated, “but we can’t give more details about the case because investigations are ongoing.”
At first, 14 men, including a minor, were detained.
The police minister, Bheki Cele, stated last month that video evidence pertaining to this case has been obtained by investigators for their use in their investigation.
On October 28, all arrested suspects are scheduled to appear in court again.
