APC Chieftain Gives Kogi Flood Victims N70 Million

Yakubu Ajaka, the Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), gave flood victims in Kogi state N70 million as a gesture of support.

Ajaka stated in a statement on Saturday that the donation would be used to help the victims in the state’s affected Local Government Areas (LGAs).
When the APC leader visited the victims in the affected local government areas, he said he was so moved by what he saw that he decided to help.
He stated, “As my widow’s might, l made a donation of N70 million to the eight local government areas in the state that were badly affected.”
Ajaka stated that designated officials in each local government area received the donation and will devise plans to ensure that the funds reach the victims.

Ajaka stated that the LGAs of Lokoja, Ajaokuta, Ibaji, Bassa, and Koton Karfe will each receive N10 million, while the LGAs of Igalamela-Odolu, Idah, Omala, and Ofu will each receive N5 million from the fund.
Ajaka went on to say that “I’m very sure there will be fairness and equity in the distribution of the funds” if the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) were properly documented and the local government chairmen and other stakeholders were as cooperative as possible.
Due to the fact that the natural disaster affected everyone, he cautioned against selecting beneficiaries based on political or religious affiliation.
Ajaka emphasized that “no individual or group should see the gesture as an avenue to victimize anybody on the basis of political party, ethnic or religious affiliation.”
He urged the monitoring committee and the heads of the affected local governments to work on the procedures for achieving fairness and transparency.

Ajaka, on the other hand, praised the administration led by Governor Yahaya Bello for its efforts to provide flood victims with aid.
