During the All Progressives Congress (APC)’s campaign rally on Tuesday in Oyo State, it is alleged that a group of con artists attacked a crowd of party supporters.
According to reports, supporters of the opposition party in the state held a rally to demonstrate their support for Bola Tinubu, the party’s presidential candidate;the governorship candidate for Oyo State, Senator Teslim Folarin, and other candidates when the criminals attacked.
Alhaji Mukaila Lamidi, aka Auxiliary, the Chairman of the Park Management System, and his boys were blamed by APC supporters for their involvement.
Folarin claimed that Governor Seyi Makinde and the Auxiliary were responsible for the attack in a statement released after the fact.
He claimed that when he realized that the party’s candidates, who were also in the crowd, were at the front, the auxiliary attacked the procession from behind.
“I’ve just been informed that Makinde’s thugs led by notorious Lamidi Auxiliary have launched coordinated attacks on our members and support groups,” read a portion of the statement.
The attacks on Iyana Labiran and Oje, both in Ibadan, were personally directed by an auxiliary. We won’t break the law because we are citizens who care about peace and uphold the law.
“We are continuing our walk for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu/Kashim Shettima, despite the deadly attacks on our members by Makinde’s agents of darkness. The members who were hurt are being treated at an unidentified hospital.
Auxiliary, through Emiola Jelili, the Public Relations Officer of the Park Management System (PMS), refuted the claim in response.
The PMS claimed that because the opposition party was exercising their constitutional right to organize a townwide rally, its members had no reason to interfere with them.
He insisted that the APC, which had a habit of mentioning the chairman’s name at every crisis, should stop doing so, and he added that the allegation was meant to damage their chairman’s reputation.
