Berry Ladies CEO donates to Black Princesses ahead of WAFU B U20 Cup of Nations

The Chief Executive Officer of Berry Ladies, Gifty Oware-Mensah, has made a donation to the Black Princesses team ahead of the start of the maiden edition of the WAFU Zone B U-20 Cup of Nations tournament in Kumasi.

Oware-Mensah made the gesture on behalf of the Women’s Premier League side as they showed their support to the national team as they wrap up preparations for the tournament.

The items donated to the team included chocolates, sanitary pads, drinks and an undisclosed amount of money. She also donated to the head coach of the team, Yusif Basigi, shirts to wear during his stay in the tournament.

Speaking after the donation, the Berry Ladies CEO said, “We just have to support [the Black Princesses]. We as club owners have our girls come in to play. Anytime these girls are playing it is only nice that they see their owners come to say ‘they support you and believe in what you are doing.’

“They grow from our clubs so it’s we support them and we are enthused about what they do so we can be able to come to the stadium.”

The donation was made following the Black Princesses’ 11-0 win over Niger in a friendly game at the Accra Sports Stadium earlier on Wednesday, May 17.

The tournament is set to begin on Saturday, May 20, at the Baba Yara Stadium.
