Abdurrazaq Ibrahim, 30, and his wife Nana Ibrahim, 30, have been remanded in jail after beating up a police officer in Niger state who was sent to arrest them.
A magistrate’s court in Madalla, Niger State’s Suleja LGA, heard the couple’s case on Tuesday.
ASP John Atine, the prosecutor, told the court that the couple beat Constable Abubakar Abdullahi on Monday around 2 p.m.
“The policeman reported back to the division where re-enforcement was redeployed and the two of them were arrested,” he stated.
However, the allegations against the accused were refuted.
The case was postponed until October 25 by Joy Asabe Shaba, the Magistrate.
In Umuahia, the capital of Abia state, a police inspector named Ugwor Samuel was shot to death by his colleague, Inspector Atule Benedict.
According to information provided by Akahi News, both the suspect and the deceased were associated with Ginger Onwusibe, an Abia State House of Assembly member who represents the Isiala Ngwa North state constituency.
Atule is said to have shot Samuel dead after they got into a fight.
As he went insane, the suspect reportedly promised to kill other police officers and refused to let other members of his team disarm him.
The suspect gave himself over to the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, Umuahia, where he is currently being held after escaping to an unidentified location with his rifle.

“The Inspector passed away before he could receive medical care.We heard that the killer policeman later turned himself in to the authorities, but he also escaped arrest.
SP Geoffrey Ogbonna, the Abia State Command’s Public Relations Officer, confirmed the incident and stated that an investigation had begun while the murderer was being held in custody.
“It’s quite unfortunate and discreditable,” he stated.The officers, who are associated with Ginger Onwusibe, hail from SPU Base 15 in Anambra State.While the offending officer is in custody, the victim is in the morgue.The State CID Umuahia is looking into the case.
