Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, was cleared of terrorism charges by the Appeal Court in Abuja.
In an effort to have the Federal Government’s terrorism charges against him dropped, Kanu went to the Appeal Court.
Kanu had criticized the decision made by Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court in Abuja, which required him to answer seven of the 15 charges against him for terrorism.
On a variety of grounds, he had asked the appellate court to drop all charges against him and release him.
The leader of the IPOB had stated that the alleged crimes were not committed in Nigeria.
However, Kanu was discharged by the three-member Justice Hanatu Sankey-led panel.
Ifeanyi Ejiofor, Kanu’s lead attorney, made the decision public.
Ejiofor wrote in a tweet:MNk was discharged, and the appeal was granted.
“Onyendu Mazi Nnamdi KANU, discharged and acquitted, appeal granted. We prevailed!”Victory, victory, victory,”
