During her plenary session on Tuesday, October 18, 2022, the Cross River State House of Assembly dealt with issues of national significance.

The various State Houses of Assembly received 44 proposed Bill Alterations from the National Assembly for consideration.
Members of the CRSHA spoke about the various proposed amendments and briefly reviewed the various items included in the amendment. Issues bordering on Federalism, national security, revenue allocation, legislative and judicial autonomy, education, independent candidacy, electoral conduct, and others were among the topics brought up.
Hon. in her contribution According to Cynthia Nkasi, our constitution is merely an integration of colonial laws and military decrees, and the majority of our issues as a nation are caused by flawed constitutional provisions that fail to define issues of national concern.
She added that certain provisions from the Clifford, McPherson, Richardson, and Lyttleton Constitutions of 1922 are still reflected in the 1999 Constitution; as a result, it fails to clearly address contemporary issues that are crucial to our nation’s development.

As a result, all House members agreed to support the motion to change the listed constitutional provisions and hoped that the bills would be amended quickly.
