Disappointment As Desmond Elliot’s Inferior Bridge And Toilet Fall Short Of Community Needs

Lagos, Nigeria – Nigerians have expressed their disappointment and anger at Desmond Elliot, the incumbent representative of Surulere constituency in the Lagos State House of Assembly, over the inferior quality of a bridge and toilet he constructed while in office.

The bridge, which is made of wood, has been described as cheap and unable to support more than five people at a time. Many residents in the area have raised concerns about the safety of the bridge, especially during the rainy season when water levels rise significantly.

The toilet facility, on the other hand, has been described as substandard, with no proper ventilation or running water. Many residents have raised concerns about the health implications of using such a facility, particularly in a densely populated area like Surulere.

Elliot, who is seeking re-election in the upcoming state house of assembly elections, has faced widespread criticism from Nigerians on social media, with many calling for his removal from office. The hashtag #DesmondElliotMustGo has been trending on Twitter, with users sharing images and videos of the poor state of the bridge and toilet.

In response to the criticism, Elliot has defended his record in office, saying that the bridge and toilet were constructed to address the needs of the community. He also blamed the poor state of the facilities on the lack of maintenance by the local government.

However, Nigerians have rejected his explanation, saying that as a representative of the people, he should have ensured that the facilities were of a high standard and properly maintained.

In a statement, a group of concerned citizens in Surulere called on Elliot to take immediate action to address the poor state of the facilities. They also called on him to be more accountable and transparent in his dealings with the community.

“We are disappointed in Desmond Elliot’s lack of concern for the welfare of the people he represents,” the statement read. “We call on him to take immediate action to address the poor state of the bridge and toilet and to be more accountable and transparent in his dealings with the community.”

The upcoming state house of assembly elections in Lagos State are set to be fiercely contested, with many Nigerians calling for a change in leadership and a more transparent and accountable government.
