Edo APC Seeks Obaseki’s Resignation, Says He Is Out Of Ideas

The All Progressive Congress (APC) Edo State chapter has once more demanded that Godwin Obaseki resign as governor of the state.
According to the Edo APC, the new demand for Obaseki’s resignation stems from his declaration on Friday that governance in the state will take a back seat as the focus shifts to campaigning.
Col. David Imuse, rtd., the Edo APC chairman,Obaseki’s resignation would provide the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) with the opportunity to prepare for a new governorship election in the state, according to those who had requested his resignation prior to the governor’s statement due to poor governance.
Akahi News learned that Inuse noted in a statement that was signed by the party’s deputy publicity secretary, Ofure Osehobo, that Obaseki’s latest request for the state to anticipate a slow pace in governance was evidence of the state’s governance collapse.
However, he stated that the renewed call has increased many state residents’ concerns that governance has finally been suspended.
The Edo APC chairman added that Obaseki’s announcement only confirmed what Edo residents already knew: that he had run out of ideas since being elected to a second term.
He asserted that Obaseki’s misplaced copy of his manifesto, titled “Make Edo Grounded Again,” and “his co-travelers and business partners have not been unable to get him an alternative” were to blame for the current predicament.
Imuse continued, “it was funny that Governor Obaseki said that governance in the state would no longer take a back seat while he galloped, campaigning for the People’s Democratic Party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.”
As a result, the Governor has avoided Benin City, the state capital, as much as possible while pretending to be looking for investors, signing agreements or memorandums of understanding, or campaigning for an election in which he is not a candidate.
“The irony of all of this is that Mr. Obaseki, who was even referred to as a tenant in the party, did not attend the troubled PDP Presidential primary with even one delegate, which shows that he is biting off more than he can chew.
“Even the PDP Presidential candidate, Atiku, is busy attending to his numerous investments in Dubai and France, while other genuine PDP governors, like Mr. Udom Emmanuel and Aminu Tambuwal, the chairman and director-general of the Campaign Council, are still doing their jobs.”
According to a portion of the statement, “This goes to confirm our conclusion that Edo State today is not a democracy but a dictatorship with Mr. Godwin Obaseki as the Executive, the legislature, and the Judiciary”
