On Sunday, five governors from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) met in Enugu State to discuss the 2023 presidential election.
According to a report, the Governors met behind closed doors to discuss Peter Obi’s potential run for president of the Labour Party.
Nyesom Wike (Rivers State), Samuel Ortom (Benue State), Seyi Makinde (Oyo State), Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia State), and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu State) are among the governors present at the meeting.
According to a person who spoke with the Daily Post about the meeting, the PDP governors want to back Obi because they don’t like Atiku Abubakar, the PDP’s candidate for president.
Atiku met with Governor Wike in Abuja a few days earlier to get his support for the 2023 presidential election.
The former vice president was said to have said that he would back Wike’s bid for the presidency in 2027.
Southerners have voiced their dissatisfaction with Atiku’s alleged decision, which has caused the party’s dismay.
However, Governor Wike’s camp is said to have demanded that the National Chairman of the Party, Iyorchia Ayu, resign before they could support Atiku in 2023.
