Housewife Remanded For Murdering Her Seven-month-old Stepdaughter

Lamratu Nasiru, a 20-year-old housewife, has been placed in the Katsina Custodial Center on remand for the alleged murder of her stepdaughter.
Punch claims that the suspect and Zabbau, her co-wife, were arguing when the suspect allegedly struck the baby girl in the head with a stick.
The blow had seriously injured the seven-month-old baby. She was rushed to the Musawa general hospital, where a certified medical doctor confirmed that she had died.
On Tuesday, the police prosecutor, ASP Sani Ado, gave a detailed account of the incident during the proceedings at the Katsina Senior Magistrate Court. He said that Lamratu was arrested after the victim’s mother reported the incident to the divisional police headquarters in Matazu.
In accordance with Section 189 of the Katsina State Penal Code Law, 2021, the defendant is facing one count of culpable homicide.
Ado, on the other hand, pleaded with the court to postpone the case and stated that investigations were still ongoing.
Hajiya Fadile Dikko, the Senior Magistrate in charge, granted the request and postponed the case for mention until October 24, 2022.
In Akure, Ondo state, a 40-year-old woman named Abiye Friday was stabbed to death while attempting to intervene in a scuffle between her neighbor and his brother. Friday was killed by her neighbor.
According to Naija News, the incident took place on September 6, 2022, around 11:00 a.m. at the Ibaka Quarters in Akungba-Akoko, which is located in the state’s Akoko South-West Local Government Area.
The suspect, Abidemi Oguntuyi, 23, is said to have stabbed the victim multiple times on her neck while she was attempting to mend a rift between him and his sibling.
According to a relative, the siblings got into an argument, and the victim tried to get involved, but she died too soon.
“The argument degenerated into a scuffle, and in the process, the suspect took a knife and stabbed Abiye several times in the neck and chest,” the relative stated.She was rushed by neighbors to a nearby hospital, where she was declared dead.
A Magistrate Court in Akure, Ondo State, ordered that Oguntuyi remain in police custody.
He was later brought before a judge on two murder and attempted murder charges.
