Following the passing of Chief Sylvester Nwobu Alor, Peter Obi, the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, has expressed his sorrow.
In his political career, Obi referred to the deceased relative as a significant mentor and father figure who remained in the background at all times.
In a personally signed statement posted to his Twitter account on Sunday, the former governor of Anambra State said that the death was a personal loss that had affected him deeply.
Obi said that the late uncle will be greatly missed, despite the fact that he stated that the late Alor lived a long life that was admired and celebrated.
He penned:Chief Sylvester Nwobu Alor, my very dear uncle, passed away recently, and I am personally heartbroken.Despite his advanced age, his passing is still a significant loss of a respected, celebrated, and investigated life.Chief Nwobu Alor was more than just an uncle; he was also a significant political mentor and father figure to me.
I highly valued his insightful advice. He had a deep understanding of how Nigerian politics worked inside and out.He cherished his role as an adviser who always remained in the background in a very self-effacing manner.
We will deeply miss him.Peter Obi, author of the book “PO” Embrace Love and Peace, has urged Nigerians and Muslims in general to uphold the virtues of love, unity, and peace.

While wishing Muslim brothers and sisters a happy Eid-El-Maulud, or celebration of the holy Prophet Muhammed’s birthday, the LP flagbearer made the call.
Obi urged Muslims to follow in the footsteps of the holy Prophet Muhammed, who upheld virtues like love and peace, in a series of tweets on Saturday.
He prayed that the celebration would bring healing to Nigeria and much-needed peace.
As a new Nigeria emerged, he hoped that the celebration would unite the nation and propel it forward.
