The Nigeria Police Force’s Lagos State Command claims to have begun an investigation into the alleged assault on Olajide Adediran (Jandor), the PDP candidate for governor,’s campaign team.
Benjamin Hundeyin, the spokesperson for the Lagos Police, provided the update in a statement on Monday.
According to Akahi News, on Sunday, a group of suspected thugs attacked the governorship candidate’s campaign team in the Badagry Local Government Area of Lagos State.
It is believed that Jandor’s team was attacked on their way back from a visit to Ikoga Junction in the Badagry Local Government area.
Hundeyin stated that the Police provided Jandor and his team with security during their initial campaign, but that they detoured to an undisclosed location on their return from the campaign, where the attack occurred.
He claimed that they were not properly briefed or included in the detour, but that they were conducting an investigation into what had actually transpired and waiting for the victims of the attack to file complaints and provide useful information.
However, the PRO of the Lagos Police Department promised that every effort would be made to apprehend and prosecute the attackers.
The statement begins with:The attack on the campaign train of Olajide Adediran, the PDP candidate for governor of Lagos State, has sparked an investigation by the Lagos State Police Command.
“It is essential to clarify that the party informed DPO Badagry of their visits’ times and locations. The security was sufficient.
“However, on their way back, the campaign train paid an unannounced visit to a completely different and undisclosed location without informing the police.
“In addition, the command is awaiting a statement or complaint from the victims that would aid in the ongoing investigation.
“The assurance is given that every effort will be made to arrest and bring the attackers to justice,”
We Are Not Liable In the meantime, the Lagos chapter of the All Progressive Congress (APC) has stated that it was not accountable for the alleged assault on Dr. Olajide Adediran, also known as Jandor, the PDP candidate for governor.
Akahi News found out that Seye Oladejo, the Lagos APC’s publicity secretary, separated the party from the Jandor attack.
However, the Lagos APC advised Jandor not to blame the party for an alleged attack on him during the campaign.
