Man Burnt To Death As Fire Razes 25-Room Building In Lagos

In Lagos State, a 25-room building was destroyed by fire on Sunday, killing an unidentified 50-year-old man.
According to information obtained by Akahi News, the tragic incident occurred on October 2, 2022, at the building at 48 Jagunmolu Street in the state’s Bariga region.
Around 3 a.m., the man was said to have been trapped inside the building when the 25-room property caught fire, destroying 10 of the rooms.
Margaret Adeseye, Director of the Lagos State Fire Service, confirmed the incident by stating that around 3:19 a.m., the organization received a distress call and immediately sent firefighters to the scene.
She stated that they also received a fire call at 19 Apata Street, Shomolu, at 12:31 AM. She emphasized that both incidents were caused by negligence.
In her own words,In the Shomolu incident, a bungalow building with eight rooms and four shops had four rooms and three shops, while the Bariga fire destroyed ten rooms in a bungalow building with 25 rooms and 18 shops.
The Kwara State Police have apprehended Adio Adeyemi, a medical doctor from Kaiama General Hospital, for allegedly kidnapping and killing two women. “Preliminary investigation revealed negligence as the undercurrent cause of both fires, which led to electrical surge as reported shock was witnessed at Shomolu before the arrival of the firefighters.”
In 2021, the suspect is said to have kidnapped and killed his girlfriend Ifeoluwa and a housewife named Nofisat Halidu.
While the housewife’s husband reported his wife missing in Kaiama, Ifeoluwa went missing in the Tanke area.
SP Ajayi Okasanmi, the Public Relations Officer for the Police, provided a comprehensive account of how the bodies of the deceased were discovered on Sunday.
The fact that the suspect’s office contained the bodies was explained by the police.
