NDLEA Intercepts N1.04bn Worth Of Tramadol At MMIA Smuggled In From Pakistan

2,465,000 Tramadol tablets were seized by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos.
The spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, stated in a statement on Sunday that the pharmaceutical opioid weighed 2,256 kilograms and had an estimated street value of N1.04 billion.
One week earlier, 13.5 million Tramadol pills worth N8.8 billion were discovered in one of the mansions of a billionaire drug baron in Victoria Garden City (VGC), Lagos. This seizure occurred on October 7.
According to the NDLEA, the most recent seizure, a shipment of 52 cartons, was brought into Nigeria via an Ethiopian Airlines flight from Karachi, Pakistan, with six distinct airway bills.
Seven cartons containing 250 milligrams of Tamral and 45 cartons containing 225 milligrams of Tramaking were included in the packages.
Another attempt to ship 15 packages of cannabis and 600 grams of tramadol 225 mg hidden in a bag of crayfish to Dubai, United Arab Emirates, was unsuccessful.Osahor Alex Ekwueme, a freight agent, is being held in custody.
However, the owner, Ifeanyi Egbuwaohia, has been arrested in Igando, Lagos, weeks after agents intercepted 5.20 kilograms of cannabis concealed in kegs of palm oil on their way to Dubai at the NAHCO export shed.
Although Ifeanyi is employed as a technician at Computer Village in Ikeja, he is also a member of a drug network in Dubai, where he distributes illegal drugs.
According to Babafemi, a second shipment of 2.60 kilograms of the same substance that he intended to export to Dubai was seized at the Lagos airport hours after his arrest.
At the SAHCO export shed, another shipment carrying 1.30 kilograms of cannabis that was hidden in reconstructed engine blocks and headed to Dubai was seized.
In connection with the shipment, Olatunji Kehinde Temiola and Osemojoye Femi Sunday, two suspects, have been arrested.
Peace Ayuba, a female drug dealer in Kaduna, was taken into custody on Friday at Kakau Gonin Gora with 78 bags of 849.5 kilograms of cannabis sativa.
In a similar vein, Onyeka Owo, 28, was detained in Sokoto by agents of the NDLEA along with 443 bottles of syrup containing codeine.
