One person was killed as suspected fraudsters demonstrated in Delta against the EFCC

On Tuesday, some young people in Delta State who are thought to be involved in online fraud reportedly staged a protest against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).


One person was reportedly killed at the event in Ughelli, which was in the state’s Ughelli North Local Government Area.
During the protest, it was made clear that several trucks were also set on fire.Akahi News learned that the suspects fled the Otovwodo area in Ughelli for fear of being arrested because of the presence of security personnel there.
According to the Daily Post, tranquility has returned to the community, and security personnel monitor the area.
“I am not aware of that now,” DSP Bright Edafe, the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, told reporters on the phone in Warri.I’m waiting for details.
However, it was not clear whether the person who was shot to death was one of the suspected internet fraudsters.
According to Akahi News, the Police Service Commission (PSC) made the announcement on Tuesday that seven senior officers would be leaving the force.
Due to alleged gross misconduct, the affected employees were dismissed.This is because ten additional officers’ promotions were also approved by the commission.During the continuation of the Commission’s 15th plenary meeting today, the development was made public.
Justice Clara Ogunbiyi, the acting chairman of the force, is in charge of the summit, which is expected to end on October 6th, 2022.
The force dealt with all of the pending disciplinary matters (PDMs) at the event.
According to reports, the commission also dealt with some appeals from police officers who had been fired, totaling 47 PDM.
Ikechukwu Ani, the commission’s spokesman, informed reporters shortly after the meeting in Abuja that the dismissed officers include:5 ASPs, 1 CSP, and 1 SP
He added that the retirement of one SP was also in the public interest.Additionally, the Commission downgraded one CSP to SP, three SPs to DSPs, and two DSPs to ASPs.
At the event, four ASPs to Inspectors were downgraded, and ten senior police officers, including an ACP, a CSP, a SP, and two DSPs, received severe reprimands.
