The departure of President Akufo-Addo for France to be awarded an Honorary Doctorate by Sorbonne University

On Saturday, October 8, 2022, President Akufo-Addo left Ghana and traveled to Paris, France, for a six-day working trip.
The President will receive an Award of Honoris Causa from Sorbonne University in Paris on Monday, October 10, 2022, as part of the trip.He will receive an Honorary Doctorate for the third time.

It should be recalled that the first was an Honorary Doctor of Laws from the renowned Fort Hare University of South Africa, which was presented to the President in May 2016;The second was an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters from the University of Liberia, awarded in December 2017.

“Prior to receiving the Honorary Doctorate from Sorbonne University, the President will address the Executive Board of the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) at its 215th Session,” read a statement released on October 9, 2022.

He will also address the Asia Society Forum while he is in France on the topic “To Act in Troubled Times:new perspectives from France, Asia, Africa, and the rest of the world” and order the renovated Chancery of the Ghanaian Embassy in Paris.
The First Lady, Rebecca Akufo-Addo, was with President Akufo-Addo;the Honorable Minister of Foreign AffairsBotchwey Shirley Ayorkor;Hon. the Education MinisterYaw Osei Adutwum, Bosumtwe’s MP;and Foreign Ministry and Presidency personnel.

The President will return to Ghana on Friday, October 14, 2020, according to the statement.According to Article 60(8) of the Constitution, Vice-President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia will act in his place “in his absence,” the statement continued.
