PSC Sacks Seven Top Police Officers, Demotes 10



Seven senior police officers were let go from the force on Tuesday, according to the Police Service Commission (PSC).
Due to alleged gross misconduct, the affected employees were dismissed.This is because ten additional officers’ promotions were also approved by the commission.

According to Akahi News, the development was made public today during the Commission’s 15th plenary meeting’s continuation.
Justice Clara Ogunbiyi, the acting chairman of the force, is in charge of the summit, which is expected to end on October 6th, 2022.
The force dealt with all of the pending disciplinary matters (PDMs) at the event.
According to reports, the commission also dealt with some appeals from police officers who had been fired, totaling 47 PDM.
Ikechukwu Ani, the commission’s spokesman, informed reporters shortly after the meeting in Abuja that the dismissed officers include:5 ASPs, 1 CSP, and 1 SP
He added that a single SP was also laid off for reasons of public interest.
Additionally, the Commission downgraded one CSP to SP, three SPs to DSPs, and two DSPs to ASPs.
At the event, four ASPs to Inspectors were downgraded, and ten senior police officers, including an ACP, a CSP, a SP, and two DSPs, received severe reprimands.
Additionally, five ASPs received a severe reprimand.Reprimands were issued to thirteen officers;Two officers will receive letters of warning, while four officers were cleared, Ani stated.
Justice Ogunbiyi, according to the PSC’s press release, said that the Commission would now pay more attention to pending disciplinary matters so that those found guilty would be punished right away and those found not guilty would be cleared to continue their career advancement.
She mentioned that Ogunbiyi instructed employees to abide by the force’s guidelines strictly and to avoid violating laws.
In addition, Ani stated that the Commission will continue to work toward maintaining a professional police force that operates in accordance with established guidelines and international best practices.
