Scores Killed As Security Operatives Raid ’IPOB Camps’ In Ebonyi

In Ebonyi State, a joint security team from the Nigerian Army, Department of State Security (DSS), and Nigeria Police Force killed an unspecified number of criminals who were thought to be Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
According to reports that made it to Akahi News on Sunday, security agents who were combing some criminal hideouts in the state eliminated the alleged criminals in recent raids.
SP Chris Anyanwu, the Ebonyi State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), confirmed the development in a statement today by revealing that three IPOB suspects in the command’s custody leaked information that aided the recent raids’ success.
The reliable evidence obtained from the interrogation of Nnamdi Ngwuta Obaji, aka State Commander No. 1, prompted the operation, which was spearheaded by the Command’s Tactical teams and assisted by the Military and DSS in the State, according to the police spokesman.3 and Felix Ogudu, another outlawed group member who was previously detained.
Anyanwu continued,The criminal elements ambushed the combined teams while they were accessing or cordoning the Camps. They fired sporadic shots in their direction, and the allied team immediately responded and engaged them in the same way. Naturally, their superior firepower subdued the criminals, who sang war songs to boost morale, jumped into the Opeke River, and swarmed in different directions as they ran for safety.
However, many of them were neutralized, and many managed to escape with bullet wounds.Additionally, the camp, which they christened “IGBO BU IGBO TRAINING SCHOOL CAMP,” was ransacked and destroyed after the criminal elements were driven out and the ground taken over. Also, a wooden bridge that was being built to help the criminals get in and out was taken down.
Anyawu said that 11 bullet-proof jackets, eight sets of military camouflage uniforms, two camp-gas cookers, 110 rounds of FNC live ammunition, 40 rounds of GPMG live ammunition, and two PRO electronics scanners (EOD equipment) were among the items that were recovered from the gang.
According to Akahi News, other items include five empty cannons, five single-barrel guns, nine different GSM handsets, three locally manufactured revolver pistols, a white Toyota Hilux, a lot of keys, three NIN slips with different names, a exercise book with the suspects’ coded names and GSM numbers, a voter’s card, three hammers, two assault rifle butts, and 25 camping mosquito nets and charms.
Anyawu went on to say that one Mercedes-Benz 190 with the registration numberThe raid also yielded SKA 306 AA, a Biafran-map calendar, and other items.
He noted that the gang was also suspected of participating in the attack on the Provost of the Federal College of Education, Isu Onicha, along the Agba axis a few days ago. He established that a good number of the criminals had been eliminated.
