The state party’s chieftains argued that the party’s involvement with Wike was disrespectful.
Yesterday, at a consultative meeting in the South-South zone in Port Harcourt, they shared their complaints and urged the national leadership to get the governors to stop coming to the state, if not for solidarity reasons.
Because of the level of embarrassment they have endured, they warned the governors that they would no longer tolerate their visits.
Sydney Nyeche, the party’s Obio/Akpor Local Government Area chairman, stated:Our efforts to reclaim the state are humiliated by our visit to Wike.
“We find it disrespectful that some group of governors from the West come to the state, go to Rumueprikom (Wike’s residence), and be negotiating with Nyesom Wike while we are working for the party in the state.
“This is brought to the attention of the national chairman because we will no longer tolerate it;We are done with it.We urge the party’s National Working Committee to advise these South West governors not to negotiate with the governor in the state. We need to put an end to this level of shame we have been experiencing.
“I cannot be threatened on a daily basis due to my political leanings, and someone from the West will come to discredit our efforts. They ought to stop traveling to the state in order to demonstrate solidarity if they are unable to do so.
In addition, Emeka Beke, the state chairman, lashed out at the party for not receiving the required 25 percent of the funds generated from the sales of forms by state candidates during the party primaries to strengthen the party.
Beke urged the national leadership of the party to take the necessary action and stated that they would do the same for them.
He stated, “Please, we urge the National Chairman that Rivers State purchased forms worth over N1 billion and are requesting that they remit to the state 25 percent of the revenue generated through the sale of the forms.”
