Why I quit my job as Okowa’s assistant to help Peter Obi – Osheokwu
Onochie Osheokwu, Senior Special Assistant on Youth Development for Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, has revealed why he quit his job to back Peter Obi, the candidate for president of the Labour Party (LP).
Osheokwu explained why he had to resign from his position because he was so passionate about the Obidient movement in an interview with Punch.
He stated that Obi possesses the appropriate frame of mind to advance the nation.
The former aide pointed out that Obi’s time as governor of Anambra state demonstrated that he cares about people more than politics.
“Obi’s record in Anambra schools is still there,” he stated. Before Obi became governor, Anambra was known to everyone in Nigeria. The educational system moved up to first place, moving from 26th place.Because the foundation has been fixed, that record continues to exist even after he leaves office.I know that some people argue that there was a strike while Obi was governor, but that didn’t happen because people didn’t like his new strategy.People will resist you once you propose a new strategy. He was awarded that; However, over time, the populace, not the elite, realized that his motives were genuine, and they adjusted to it.That record is still in effect today.
He lamented about the ongoing Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) strike, which has halted the education of many students, while speaking about the problems afflicting the nation.
He explained that the strike has prevented him from attending any lectures in his master’s program.
Nigerian students have not attended school in eight months and have remained at home. After the (COVID-19) lockdown, I was able to get into the University of Benin for my master’s degree because I am similar to them.Due to the strike of the lecturers, I have not yet attended any lectures.I haven’t even gone to a single lecture in the almost two years since I got in.He added, “The education system is in bad shape.”

The Obidient stalwart stated that he respects the governor because he has been performing his duties as governor of Delta state, but that he believes Obi would perform better on a national level. He was speaking about his relationship with Okowa.
