Incomplete prize: Phyna rejects N13m offer, insists on 1 BTC, trip to Maldives

  • Quidax had pledged to give Phyna 1 BTC as part of her prizes but were yet to fulfil their promise two years after.
  • Following Phyna’s recent outburst, they met with the reality star and offered her N13m which they claimed was the value of 1 BTC in 2022 when they made the pledge.
  • Phyna in a recent video, said she rejected the offer and insisted that they gave her the 1 BTC which she said is now worth over N90 million.
  • She also insisted that the organisers of the reality show and their sponsors must give her tickets for a trip-for-two to Maldives which was also part of her prize.

Big brother naija season seven winner Josephina Otabor, popularly known as Phyna, has turned down a N13m sum proposed by Quidax, a sponsor of the reality show.

Phyna, who won the show’s 2022 season, has been vocal about the incomplete delivery of her winnings.

Recall that Quidax had committed to giving Phyna 1 Bitcoin (BTC) as a part of her victory package, yet two years have passed without this commitment being honored.

Phyna

In the wake of Phyna’s public dissatisfaction, representatives from Quidax approached the reality star with a N13m offer, asserting it represented the 2022 value of 1 BTC at the time of their original promise.

In a recent video shared on her social media, Phyna disclosed her decision to refuse the monetary offer, demanding instead the promised 1 BTC, now valued at over N90 million.

She further asserted her entitlement to a couple’s trip to the Maldives, another part of her prize package.

Phyna stated:

“I am standing on my Maldives trip for two. So I’m waiting to get my tickets for Maldives. You can’t give me Kenya or Morocco as options to pick from. I can fund my trip if I want to go to Kenya or Morocco.”

Phyna also recounted her interaction with Quidax, where she was presented with N13 million, purportedly equivalent to the 2022 rate of 1 BTC. She challenged this, recalling that her research in November 2022 indicated 1 BTC was worth N22 million, contrary to their claim of N13.8 million.

Upon verification, she found that 1 BTC was approximately N19 million at that time.

Also, Quidax said they will give me N13m; the rate of 1 BTC in 2022. Before I countered that, I reminded them that as at when I checked in November 2022, 1 BTC was N22m but they insisted that it was N13.8m. So I referred to my Google and it showed me that 1 BTC was about N19m in November 2022.

“If Quidax had given me my 1 BTC in 2022, today I will be having about N96 million sitting in wallet. Now you are telling me that you are going to give me N13m, so what happens to all my lost in the past two, three years?” she expressed.
