  • Paulo Okoye highlighted that the cause of the downfall in afrobeat is as a result of the high prices of show tickets
  • Paulo warned against being like reggae singers who have folded after a while

Show promoter Paulo Okoye expresses concerns about the challenging year ahead for Afrobeat artists.

He pointed out that the high cost of tickets is the main reason behind the upcoming tough times.

According to Paulo Okoye, only Davido and Burna Boy have been able to make a significant impact this year by hosting a few successful concerts.

He also cautioned afrobeat singers against following in the footsteps of reggae musicians who struggled and eventually faded away.

Taking to his instagram story, Paulo wrote:

“Tough time for Afrobeat (A & B & C class) Artist Price themselves out of the market. No much shows + global economy is not laughing as well. God help us. Paulo.

“2024 will be tough year for Afrobeat!!! Apart from 2 artists this year (Burnaboy and Davido) They did few shows others are in trouble either they over priced or tickets are not selling hmmm. Let us not do what happened to Reggae musicians reduce your prices just think. How many shows you did this year.”

In another story, Paulo Okoye sets up boxing fight between Iyabo Ojo and Lizzy Anjorin, offers winner 10 million naira.

Iyabo Ojo and Anjorin recently found themselves in a fresh feud over Ojo’s role in the late Mohbad’s case. Ojo, not one to back down, issued a legal warning to the actress-turned-entrepreneur, threatening to sue for defamation.

This clash of words has been a back-and-forth spectacle, keeping the drama alive for weeks.

Paulo, on Friday, made a splash on Instagram, declaring his ambition for the two to duke it out in a boxing match. Asserting himself as the mastermind behind the showdown, he pledged to provide the necessary elements to make the match a reality.

In his social media proclamation, Paulo declared a hefty incentive, dangling a tempting N10 million for the victorious contender in this winner-takes-all clash.

The savvy businessman sweetened the deal further, promising to supply both an ambulance and a medical doctor for the match.
